In celebration of Conservation Week & Spring we are doing our bit with a Heirloom seed giveaway.
The first 100 orders placed from the 17th of Sept will receive some complimentary tomato heirloom seeds.
The seeds are a mixture of NZ heirloom tomato varieties that are easy to grow in Auckland.
Heirloom seeds have been saved by families, generation after generation. These seeds have many qualities and are desirable for their high quality and taste. They have all been planted and harvested by hand.
We hope you enjoy the fruits later in the year and please let us know how you get on with your seedlings.
Here's some tips on how to plant:
- seedling trays need to be 6-7 cm deep for seedlings to grow to their full potential.
- cover your seeds with the same depth of soil as the width of the seeds.
- keep seeds moist but not too wet.
- once the seeds are germinating they must have full light conditions or they will grow weak and spindly.
- when handling the plants to replant in a larger container, handle by the tips of the leaves or the soil around the roots.
- the seedlings will need warmth and shelter from the wind and rain.
- water seedlings in the way that best imitates gentle rain.
